There are times when old ideas can be mixed into something completely different so fresh and surprising. You must have often watched a movie about time travel. But, in the hands of director Rian Johnson, 'Looper' became one of the most compulsory movie to watch this year.
Kansas 2044. Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a looper: killer of people sent from the future to the future to prevent something bad happens. His life is quite monotonous. Learn French in his apartment, breakfast and diner same, work during the day, hang out with friends, taking drugs regularly, and meet prostitutes subscription.
Until one day Joe found himself having to kill the adult version of himself (Bruce Willis). In the world of 'Looper', you must not fail to kill the target. The consequences are too great. Saatitulah young Joe realized that he had to catch Joe precocious chaos spread uncontrolled.
But too late, Joe boss, Abe (Jeff Daniels) was already exerting all his men to capture the young Joe. Joe Young tried to escape until finally met with Joe adults. Joe adults said that in the future will appear a figure called The Rainmaker which would create chaos. And, for that Joe adults come to that time: to kill the young Rainmaker.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt had to wear a prosthetic nose to make it look look like Bruce Willis. Not work in vain because in 'Looper' we could hardly see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as usual. But not only the physical appearance is dazzling, the actor who had just cycled with sophisticated in 'Premium Rush' succeeded in giving spirit 'Looper' to a near-perfect standard. Joe did figure sloppy and sometimes feels like a bastard, but we never lost the spirit to support it.
Bruce Willis is more famous as the actors are good at fighting than acting expertise. But as the underdog, Willis appeared as a wild card. Surprising and in its own way makes Joe adult version was quiet but at the same time too sloppy. Her chemistry with Joseph Gordon-Levitt never fade. See Willis and Gordon-Levitt attack each other is one of the reasons why 'Looper' so magnetic.
Is Rian Johnson, director and screenwriter 'Looper', which was responsible for excellent performance all actors (ranging from the over-protective Emily Blunt, Paul Dano innocent man, the boss is quiet-but-deadly Jeff Daniels until Pierce Gagnon truly anesthetize). Rian Johnson debuted through 'Brick' (2005) a film that introduced the term "noir" institutions to high school (also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt). In 'Looper', Johnson seemed to want to torture the audience with a rush of roller-coasteremosi full of tension.
There was no shred dull moment in 'Looper'. Johnson managed a futuristic atmosphere that is not only sophisticated but also reassuring. A future where people could kill the rich bum and mastered everything? Is likely to occur.
Tempo and tensions the film is structured such that you keep hold of your seat from the beginning of the movie until the end credits roll. Simple though powerful drama. And all of it arranged with dialogues that amazingly funny and entertaining.
'Looper' is all the things you expect from a movie (sci-fi). You can laugh, raised his hands into the air in triumph as Bruce Willis opened his mouth and killing people with guns. Or, close your eyes because you are so frightened by horror that will occur.
